The physicians of the Mount Sinai FPA Anesthesiology Pain Management Practice diagnose and treat pain in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.

In the outpatient setting, assessment, diagnosis, and management of pain is facilitated by a combination of thorough clinical investigation, medications, physical therapy, and state of the art interventional (minimally invasive) procedures, such as epidural steroid injections, discography, joint injections (including sacroiliac), radiofrequency ablation, kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulation, among others. Every Faculty Practice Associate is an attending physician of the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has his/her own set of clinical interests, which may be viewed on the physician’s profile page.

For surgical patients in acute pain, our group places thoracic epidural catheters and manages all epidural and peripheral nerve catheter infusions, as well as complex cases of intravenous patient controlled analgesia. In addition, other medications are utilized to achieve optimal postoperative pain control, which may reduce the risk of postoperative complications, speed recovery/hospital discharge, improve patient satisfaction, and potentially prevent development of persistent postoperative pain syndromes (chronic pain). Consultation is available for inpatients with exacerbations of chronic pain. A covering physician is available in-house 24 hours per day.
