About Us

We believe we are recognized as leaders in our field because we provide compassionate care to patients suffering from frequently debilitating endocrine disorders such as diseases of the thyroid and pituitary glands, adrenal disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, and diseases of calcium metabolism including osteoporosis.

At the Endocrine, Diabetes, and Bone Diseases Faculty Practice, we routinely treat patients suffering from the full range of hormone-related disorders including diabetes, which is the focus of our Diabetes Center. We frequently work with colleagues in other specialties to manage the care of patients who may have multiple disorders or who suffer complications affecting other organs and systems.

In our practice, we routinely treat patients using the latest technical developments and are constantly performing research. We consult regularly with colleagues to ensure we are providing the best, as well as the latest, care. Our goal is always to diagnose our patients quickly and accurately so that treatment may begin immediately.

As members of the faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, members of the EDBD-FPA are dedicated researchers as well as physicians. In fact, we treat research as a major part of our profession.

We conduct investigations into endocrine and related disorders and consult the very latest results from all medical specialties including our own. This only enhances the patient care that has helped Mount Sinai develop into a referral center for endocrine disorders.

We’re also pleased to note that many of the latest diagnostic tools and treatments routinely used to care for patients have either been developed or first introduced by Mount Sinai endocrinologists.

For example, some of the earliest work on adrenal gland disease was conducted at Mount Sinai by Dr. Louis Soffer in the 1940s. Dr. Soffer was a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of Addison’s Disease and Cushing’s Disease. In 1946, he published a monograph titled, Diseases of the Adrenals, which became a valuable reference text for clinicians.

The physicians of the EDBD-FPA also work closely with other researchers, including one of the world’s leading diabetes researchers, Dr. Derek LeRoith. Dr. LeRoith is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease at Mount Sinai.

Thanks to our history, and to the expertise of our current staff of endocrinologists, we are a major center for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the thyroid and pituitary glands.

Every day of the year, the observations we make while treating patients are shaped into questions that are then tested through our research. Outcomes from our research then guide the individualized care we provide to every patient. Results from our investigations are shared with physicians worldwide through publication in peer-reviewed medical journals.

The result is that we’re able to deliver tomorrow’s medicine today.

Because of the superb reputations of our world-renowned EDBD-FPA endocrinologists and their colleagues in subspecialties including cardiology, geriatric medicine, clinical immunology, rheumatology and related specialties, patients frequently travel to The Mount Sinai Medical Center from all over the world for diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders.
