The Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center brings together a group of highly trained physicians who are dedicated to the comprehensive care of cancer patients, from initial diagnosis through follow-up. Oncologists on staff specialize in most forms of the disease, including breast, colorectal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, kidney, liver, lung, pancreatic, prostate, and skin cancers, as well as multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and sarcoma. In addition, the Center has particular expertise in advising and treating individuals at high risk for specific types of cancer, such as breast and gastrointestinal cancers. Patients are seen for consultations, second opinions, and treatment at all stages of the disease.
The practice also includes nurses specially trained in cancer treatment services and an on-site oncology pharmacist. Physicians in the Center routinely work in collaboration with other experts at Mount Sinai, including surgical and radiation oncologists and specialists in pain management, palliative care, and behavioral medicine. Physical therapy, social services, and support groups are available.
