Surgical Oncology at Mount Sinai provides state-of-the-art cancer care as part of a multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists throughout the institution.
We understand the emotional needs of cancer patients, and we know that time matters. We routinely see new patients within 48 to 72 hours. When required, we obtain and review scans the same day, and we work with on-site experts to expedite evaluation and create a customized treatment plan. Treatment may involve surgery, but if chemotherapy or radiation is the right first step, we coordinate the appropriate consultations.
Mount Sinai surgeons have gained national recognition for treating cancers of the liver, pancreas, biliary system, and gastrointestinal tract. We have expertise in organ transplantation, vascular surgery, and general surgical oncology, often allowing us to successfully treat highly complex cases considered inoperable elsewhere. Our surgeons work as a team in both the office and the operating room. This unique approach gives patients the combined expertise of two or three staff surgeons.
The hours for the Surgical Oncology FPA vary from doctor to doctor. Patients are encouraged to contact us for the specific office hours of each physician.
