Dr. Finkel is dually appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry and Psychiatry of the Medically Ill. After completing her residency at Bellevue/NYU, Dr. Finkel did a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine with a focus on multiple sclerosis. In addition to running the clinical aspects of the psychiatry consultation liaison service in the general medical hospital, Dr. Finkel serves as the primary psychiatric consultant to Mount Sinai's renowned Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis. Her areas of interest include: multiple sclerosis, neurologic illness, chronic medical illness, psychopharmacology, psychological reaction to illness, and bioethics.
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
Dr. Finkel did not report having any of the following types of financial relationships with industry during 2013 and/or 2014: consulting, scientific advisory board, industry-sponsored lectures, service on Board of Directors, participation on industry-sponsored committees, equity ownership valued at greater than 5% of a publicly traded company or any value in a privately held company.
